i had a great time this past saturday at the 5th annual firework fiesta at robbins' ranch! saw a lot of old and new faces, ate way too much, and freaked out about all of the amazing fireworks. lauren is in town for a few days and i think we're going to go float the river during the day tomorrow! my birthday happens, i'll go see the last harry potter movie at midnight, then i am going to head to the pacific north west for about a week and a half. i'm having a rock'n summer i just wish it was going by a little slower.

let me set this up for you. i went to see tense play last night. their opening act was two girls doing some s+m play. when they were finished i went to the bathroom which was one room with two toilets side by side and a sink. one of the girls who was wearing only the smallest g-string i've ever seen and white duct tape in upside down crosses over her nipples was in there cleaning the fake blood off of herself. i tried to walk out but she told me to come on in, so i said "i am going to pee while you're doing that." i then questioned her further about her fake blood use and was assured that it was easy to clean off. after i was done with my business i left but i can't remember what i said to her before i made my exit.

DAY ONE:in an effort to keep myself actively photographing i decided upon moving to austin that i would embark on a photo challenge; to capture my roommate darcy every day, whether it be a photograph of her, inspired by her, or reminiscent of her being in my mind - all without her knowing the photograph was being taken. originally i had hoped that i could keep this going for at least a month, and ambitiously dreamed of doing it for a whole year. the project only lasted two and a half weeks and i will be posting one a day until i am done. creeping on friends is fun (and i know she is a bit nervous about how these turned out, but i think she will be pleasantly surprised :)!

last night darcy and i stayed up until 3AM finally finishing BABES UNITED issue 2. i think they turned out great! they should be on our etsy soon; turns out that it is way harder than ever imagined to get ahold of colored legal size (8.5 x 14) paper in colors other than yellow, blue, or tan. i WILL have salmon colored zine covers, i demand! currently figuring it out.

today i have been adding a few lower priced items, check them out here! after i printed this set i realized that it almost exclusively has to do with whitney and bradley. ;)

it seems like i've been on a shopping spree for the last two days. maybe its because i came down with strep throat and am trying to make myself feel better by buying things? who knows...

first off i bought a plane ticket to go visit lauren as well as all of my other friends in seattle. i'll be staying for almost a week and i am super stoked! i figure, i had previously planned on buying a ticket for march anyway and just because the destination changed doesn't mean i cant go somewhere, right?!
secondly i was browsing the levi's website earlier today and noticed that they have a few items on sale for $40 and under (check it out, ladies!). i fell in love with this pair of pants and had to buy them; looking forward to their arrival in 3-6 business days and ready to tuck many of my favorite shirts into them!

i want to live in a community where i share things with others to utilize potential, where i can make huge meals every day to feed; i don't want to be stingy and keep my talents, ambitions, and belongings to myself. i want to make a living working with a group to provide a service where we each get to express ourselves by being involved in something we are proud of and don't think of as work because it is so satisfactory to us. the only problem is that i have no idea how to go about doing this. it seems like i am the only person who actually believes this can happen and is willing to do a bit of sacrificing to get it done.

i miss my friends even though some of them are right next to me. i spend most of my time wishing that i wasn't so passionate about things and that i didn't care so much because its wearing me thin and at the moment i'm very lost as to what to do about it. i am in the process of teaching myself how to rely on others less for my self satisfaction and learning to live for myself. i feel as if i'm on the verge of finding something.

i've been back in texas for three weeks now, and i am having an absolutely wonderful time. having friends the way that i do is a concept that before my year away i completely took for granted. it wasn't until i was in a new place trying to make new friends that i was informed, in a way, that most people don't have friendships as deep and meaningful...and especially not in groups so large. the people in seattle thought lauren and i were strange because of how friendly we are and how willing we were to help people we "didn't even know". being back around people who assume we'll see each other every day and being back in a place where complete strangers talk to me everywhere i go is an insanely uplifting feeling.

i knew this little guy for almost all of his short lived time here with us. he was born in the closet of a house i had lived in previously; the very closet that my own cats were raised in. once introduced we became quick friends. he loved to chase the sound my nails made across the back of the futon, he liked to perch on my shoulder, and i knew the exact position to place him in to instantly make him fall asleep. he would sleep, purring, in my arms for hours. when there were large parties and he was locked up in his dad's room i would feel bad for him and carry him around in the side pockets of whatever dress i was wearing. he would never try to escape. after moving away i always wondered if he would remember me. during my last visit home in early july i went to see him. daniel suggested to me that he may be in the back yard so i started yelling his name, and as i walked around the side of the house calling to him he stood up and started running to me, chirping. he remembered! his death was unjust, undeserved, and for some reason weighs heavily on me tonight as i lay trying to drift into sleep. i love you shaq and i will spend forever missing you.

i never ever thought that i could be this excited about moving back in with my parents.....

i cant believe it took us this long, but we finally managed to get the full twin peaks experience. we geared up in the most twin peaks-y outfits we could muster and set out. had cherry pie and coffee, black, at the double R which is called twede's cafe IRL and is tweety bird themed. let me tell you agent dale cooper is no liar! this was without a doubt the best damn cherry pie i've ever had.

today i decided to call into work, because...who wants to go to work anyway? amirite? i have been laying in bed since 6:30 when i made the call drifting in and out of sleep having different dreams about what today will be like. each dream kept getting more and more awkward until i was face to face with a situation that i have been/am avoiding. i could feel how red my face was with embarrassment at being in this situation, i let the moment pass, went to sit in a small room to hide myself and then suddenly casey walked down the stairs, asking where her shirt was like we had never been apart. i took her in my arms and hugged her while i wept, and even though it was only a dream-that embrace was just what i needed. even in my dreams casey is a sign of peace and comfort, i miss her so much.

so glad its friday i only got through half of my thumbs up. hungover, kind of excited to go to work because my boss wont be there and i can do whatever i want, have two new (precious) friends from alabama (who are staying at our apartment right now), cuddled with benny this morning, hoping the clouds go away like yesterday, having an open apartment sale tomorrow at victoria's, thinking about what else this weekend has in store for me.
